Barber Jobs in San Diego

Dino's Barbershop is a Normal Heights shop built around one goal: taking barbers beyond booked and busy. If you want a career rather than a chair, we should talk.

Most barbershops offer you a chair and wish you luck. We'd rather build something with you. Filling a book on your own takes years. Here it takes a fraction of that, because the whole shop works as a team to get you there — and that is the part most shops leave entirely up to you.

Why barbers want to work here

  • Our barbers get fully booked — and they get there fast. We won't promise you a full book on day one; nobody honest would. What we will say is that it is an achievable goal here rather than a years-long grind, because the booking and rebooking systems and the team around you are built to move you toward it.
  • Competitive pay. Our barbers make money.
  • Continued education. We invest in our barbers' success. The training and knowledge here are aimed at making you an elite career barber, not just keeping the chair filled this week.
  • A clean shop and a premium brand. A premium experience for the customer and for the barber working beside them. The room you work in matters.
  • Someone else carries the marketing. It's a whole lot easier to deliver your best behind the chair when somebody is handling the marketing and the systems for you. You get to focus on your craft and grow into the space you see yourself in long term.
  • A real career path. Educator, shop owner, or high-ticket service provider — if that's what you want, there's a route to it here.

Who we're looking for

We're particular, and it's fair to say so up front. The barbers who do well here have four things in common.

An open schedule

Our busiest days are the ones clients want most. Availability is how a book gets built.

Excellent hospitality

A great haircut should come with great hospitality. How a client is treated matters as much as the cut.

Coachability

People who take feedback as a gift. That one trait separates the barbers who grow from the ones who plateau.

Willing to be seen

Comfortable in front of a camera, or willing to learn. We're a media-focused shop and we'll help you get there.

We're a media-focused barbershop

We have a full content studio in the shop. Photos, video, consultations and a complete content strategy are part of the system here, not an afterthought — and it is a large part of what puts our barbers ahead of the rest of the industry.

The upside is that you aren't carrying it alone. With the marketing and the systems handled for you, your attention can stay on your craft.

We'll be straight about one thing. If you're not a social media person, or you're too shy to be in front of a camera, this probably isn't the shop for you. If you're willing to learn, put yourself out there and do what it takes to reach a level you didn't think was possible, we're interested in talking to you.

What "beyond booked and busy" means

Plenty of barbers get busy. Fewer build something that lasts. Our number one goal is taking you past a full calendar into a career with real direction — raising your ticket, deepening your craft, and opening doors into teaching or ownership if that's where you're headed.

If you want to be handed a chair and left alone, we're probably not your shop. If you want to be better in a year than you are now, we're worth a conversation.

Where we are

We're on Adams Avenue in Normal Heights, minutes from North Park, University Heights, Hillcrest and Kensington — central to most of San Diego's barbering community.

Questions, answered

Is Dino's Barbershop hiring?

We're always open to meeting barbers who care about the craft and the people in their chair. Even when every chair is full, we'd rather know who's out there than miss someone good. Fill out the form and we'll take it from there.

What's the pay like?

Competitive — our barbers make money. We'll go through the details with you when we meet.

Do I need a California barber's license?

Yes, a valid California barber's license is required to work the floor. The application asks you to confirm it.

I'm newly licensed. Is it worth applying?

Yes. Continued education is a core part of how this shop runs, and we've built people up before. Tell us where you are and what you want to become.

Do I have to be on social media?

Effectively, yes. We have a content studio in the shop and a full content strategy, and it's part of how our barbers get ahead. You don't have to arrive polished — you do have to be willing to learn and put yourself out there.

How do I apply?

Fill out the Work With Us form, then call the shop and ask whether the owner is on site. We'd rather meet you in person than trade emails.
